Reporting to - The Production / Site Manager
Role Overview - To work in conjunction with other teams to construct large
crates/cases/pallets, for effective packing of goods that ensure content safety and security and to minimise deterioration and or damage in storage or transportation.
Overview of Duties:
Constructs Large Wooden Crates/Cases/Pallets to support the safe and secure packaging of goods to minimise deterioration and or damage in storage or transportation.
Reads and interprets written instructions (dimensions, drawings and cutting lists) applying the data to the production of the Case/Crate/Pallet.
Works effectively with a team or independently to defined timed outcomes.
Accurately records information using a variety of methods including handheld devices.
Packing duties as applicable
Detailed Case Maker Duties:
Initially withdrawing cutting lists and drawings from the production office or supervisor.
Check and withdraw materials, consumables and tools to the point of process.
Check Cutting Lists and any drawings ready for processing.
Ensure wood is stacked securely and the working area is clean and safe prior to processing at all times.
Check a “first off” prior to producing the required batch.
Undertake casemaking operations in a safe and secure manner at all times.
Check all dimensions and characteristics as necessary.
On completion of operations, recording appropriate details and checks onto the Job Cutting List.
Clean down tools & equipment as necessary to ensure; maximum tool/equipment life, safe operating areas and eliminating dangerous working practices.
Transfer completed cases to storage or the applicable packing area in a timely manner.
Forward the Cutting Lists and any drawings to the Production Office in a timely manner.
Complete and maintaining records in line with company Quality Procedures.
Remove packing scrap and rubbish from the packing area ensuring that scrap is kept to a minimum.
Detailed Packing Duties:
Initially withdrawing Job Sets from the production office or supervisor.
Reads instructions and accurately interpret what is required.
Ensuring the packing area is clean and safe for working at all times.
Check that goods are as per the Job Set and goods Inward Tickets.
Check that goods are free from damage or rust etc.
Carrying out packing operations in accordance with the requirements laid down in the Job Set.
Ensuring that goods are packed securely and safe from damage or deterioration.
Ensuring cases and pallets are securely constructed to company guidelines/standards and are fit for purpose.
Mark containers with the correct identification, safety and environmental details.
Determine and accurately record on Job Sets, the weight and size of packed goods.
Record on completion of packing all materials used and time taken to complete.
Return on completion of packing, the Job Sets and any documents or instructions to the production office.
Complete and maintain records in line with the company Quality Procedures.
Remove packing scrap and rubbish from the packing area ensuring that scrap is kept to a minimum.
Person Specification:
Case Making / Carpentry / Wood Working Experience
· Where possible - Training licences in-
Nail and Staple Gun use
Manual Handling
Cross/Band and Circular Saw operations.
Forklift and Crane Licences
Skills: Accuracy with attention to detail, thorough, safety and quality aware, numerical and literate.
Other
The holding a Full UK Driving Licence as some jobs may need to be completed on
The holding of Forklift and Crane operating licences would also be advantageous
